Marcus Buckingham - "Best of 2006 - Thought Leaders"
Marcus Buckingham
Marcus Buckingham, the best selling author in 2006 teaches everyone from housekeeping to sales people, to teachers, generals, all different king of people to discover their strengths and maximize them. The tool that is going to help everyone out to do so is "Trombone Player Wanted" - a six short-film series focusing on how to discover and put these strengths to work. I am so thriled that I am able to provide everyone with a sample of the first short-film series by clicking the link bellow.
The first short - film, called "So, What's stopping you?" focuses on what's the thing that stops you to put your strengths in practice and maximize them. Marcus gives you 3 destructive myths about strengths - including "what the team needs from you is to put aside the strengths and do what it takes to help the team win." - and replace them with provocative truths. Enjoy it and I hope YOU are going to LEARN something from it.
Another source about great managing, great leading, and career success is "The One Thing YouNeed to Know " by Marcus Buckingham. The book also offer important performance and career lessons for business people at all career stages. My brother in law has got this book at work from his boss, the president of Chamber of Commerce in North Myrtle Beach. The president offers to each employee copies of this book with the thought that it would motivate and influence each one of them to become a great and sucessful team... a winning team My two questions are: What if every leader of a profit or non-profit organization would provide such tools to their employee? What would the result be? Each one of us have its own answers to these questions but I am pretty sure that all of us share a common answer. The answer is that the companies would have way more success and the employers would feel less anxious and stressed out at work.
I hope you will find these references useful and would determine you to do the same thing what the president of Chamber of Commerce have done (in case you are a company leader or a manager). If you read this and you are not a store leader than spread the word around to your boss or to acquaintances that own a company. Enjoy the book.
Here is one of the Marcus Buckingham's lectures talking about redifining excellence in the work place:
